Just a Board and a Paddle

How many boards can you fit on a golf cart?

I didn’t want to get too close to the sea lions..
There’s something freeing (and addicting) about being out on the open ocean with just a board and a paddle. No gas, no noisy motor…. just your own sheer muscle power. We dropped in at Doheny and covered a total distance of 6 miles. Being 1/2 mile offshore, I felt a small survival instinct kick in. I’m learning a lot about changing wind patterns and tides too…. it’s crazy how fast the wind can pick up and slow you down. It was my first downwinder and I’m already talking about entering a race. What can I say, I’m hooked.
We snapped these shots using my old crappy point and shoot with an underwater housing. For some reason the camera leaves a purple line across the top of it’s photos. I think I love it.
Just Dive In

I picked up Standup Paddle Surfing (SUP) last summer and now I’m hooked. Having only surfed a handful of times in my life, I’m trying to get used to getting my ass handed to me. Great thing is, you can throw a board in just about any large body of water.. no surf required. Have you tried it yet??
AND there’s no surfing without a little Pedro’s tacos…. Droooooooool. (see fig. 3).
